I don’t really know what happened to my week. It started out crazy and just followed through to the end. There was 8000 loads of laundry Monday chased by dinner, evening ballet class, baths, bed. Tuesday was a workday in which I got my skinny fanny handed to me. Wednesday was spent (and I mean the entirety of the day) in the kitchen baking for my kids’ school’s bake auction, working on Mad’s magic act for the talent show, practicing reading drills, dinner, baths, etc. Thursday was another work day after which I ran home, changed, got to the kids’ talent show and bake auction which involved an adorable performance by the Great Madini who crumbled into an emotional mess on the way home too far past 9pm for me to even acknowledge, irresponsible mother that I am. Friday was half day at school, floor cleaning, piano teaching/practicing, pizza making, and hanging out with friends over the afore mentioned pizza. None of this is really meaningful in any particular way, I just think sometimes we need to have someone validate us in those weeks when we really push ourselves. Not that we don’t push ourselves every week, but this one seemed to push back a lot and now I am doing the laundry at 11 pm that I was supposed to do on Saturday but Saturday happened and here I am.
There were some great highlights to this week, though, I must say.
1.The boys were relatively calm while watching their sister dance on Monday which is not the norm. Usually, I am trying to watch Mad prance around while my boys are creating a high holy noisy ruckus in the observation area. I realized, however, that I can download short chapter books on my Nook for 3 bucks and the novelty of that keeps J busy the whole 45 minutes and he’s reading and learning, not trying to knock down stuff with birds to the world’s most annoying song. Brilliant!
2.I adapted an oatmeal cookie recipe with whole wheat flower, brown sugar, honey, and cranberries that my whole family really liked and I felt good about. Hubs was even looking for them the next day but I sold them. Oops.
3. I got my computer back from the geniuses for a “discounted rate” ( there is a story to this but I have been forbidden to talk about it anymore by my husband for the sake of my blood pressure and general well being) and managed to go into the store, pay, and pick it up without a single outburst. Since I’ve had 3 with them this week (I’m sure my picture is hanging somewhere behind the genius bar on the watch list. Angry red head might be psychotic. Does not have external hard drive.), I thought I would give them a pass just this once. Just. This. Once.
4. My kids are taking to the piano pretty naturally so far but training a righty and a lefty simultaneously is presenting some challenges. It seems they will play lovely duets someday and that would be nice…J on the right, Mad on the left, and the Baby trying to get someone to talk to him.
5.I was reminded again that I work with some really awesome people. They never shy away from challenges but stand up and do what they have to do to help people. It is really amazing considering what the world of healthcare is like at the moment. I’m glad I get to work with them. They’re like family to me.
6.My husband watched Twilight with me. He loves me that much. What more can I say? Oh, and he ripped out everything I hated about the front garden bed and got it all ready to I can put new plants in. Awesome.
Well, that’s enough for now. I am looking forward to whatever this week brings our family. Valentine’s Day is upon us and the kids have a little class party at school. Fun! Then my mother and father in law will be here Thursday so more fun and shenanigans are sure to ensue. I hope you all have productive and peaceful weeks! To close this, I leave you with the Great Madini and her adorable assistant as she pulls a bunny out of a hat. Tadah!!!!

At least you know what made your week so busy!! What about those weeks that we reach the end of it and wonder “what was I so busy with?” Sounds like lots of fun was had…….BUT lots of catching up, thus the late night laundry. The picture above makes it all worth it. The love in the smiley sleepy faces at the end of the day, makes me want to do some extra work at night so in the morning I have an extra minute to snuggle them BEFORE the daily whirlwind begins! I would also LOVE to hear more about the Oatmeal cookie you made, you know the ingredients, the amounts, how long it cooked…….
