And the Fun Just Keeps. On. Coming.

Just when I think things are slowing down around here, more fun keeps flying at me and I am here to embrace it, let me tell you.  My brother and his family left last week so I had to work a couple days whatever and then on Friday, two of my friendzzzz from college flew in to have a fun Summer weekend.  Well, I thought it was going to be just one, but the other surprised us all by flying in at the last minute and it was awesome.  2 of the girls live here and me, of course, but the others are located in various parts of the Midwest and Kansas. We try to see each other when we can but since some of us have kids, all of us have jobs, and one of us is still in the land of perpetual education, this is difficult.  I catch up with who I can when I can and I don’t complain.

San Diego put on her best dress for my friends.  Holy cow, it was a BEAUTIFUL weekend!  We ate, we drank, we laughed over inappropriate things, we reminisced, we hugged, and overall renewed our bestie love for each other and forgot we were in our mid 30′s…just for a sec (there were also conversations about back pain, grey hair, and dermatology…we’re old).

Local beer. A must in San Diego.

Shenanigans at Craft and Commerce. I could have spent all day looking at the taxidermy here.

You know, like this.

Lunch in La Jolla

There was a swing band playing at the park.  I gave J a dollar to dance with Mad and they did not disappoint.  I told him it would be good practice for prom since he was going to have to take her.  Mean mommy.

Nerds.  Well, one nerd.  And it’s me.

The girls got a taste of the insanity that is dining with my children and me.  It’s always crazy and a bit messy.

Mmmmmmm milkshakessssss.

Different day, different beach.

My favorite time of day at the beach is the early evening.  Still warm and sunny but there’s this quiet that comes over things that hypnotizes you and I felt like I could stay there watching my kids dig and play forever.  *sigh*

These are my constant friends (minus a couple).  We have lived the most important years of our lives together and when we meet up, it’s like no time has passed (except for the husbands that are looking at us like we’re crazy and little people that are running around).  I wish we lived closer to each other but I am really blessed to have these women in my life.  They are insanely smart, totally loyal, and their capacity for love has just grown over the years.  Even if I had come out of college without a degree or career, I would consider myself blessed to have known and befriended these girls.
